The Tree of Remembrance
The festive season is upon us, and we have a very special way you can add a meaningful touch to your celebrations this year.
Christmas is family time – sharing life with family and friends and remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. And what better way to celebrate the memory of those dear to our hearts than by adding a Christmas tree bauble designed exclusively by hospice for Farmers.
Each year a unique Christmas tree bauble is commissioned and sold at Farmers stores to raise money to support the work we do at hospice as all our services are free.
It is often a very difficult time for the family / whānau after a loved one has passed, and our family support bereavement and grief services are always available to help them through this period. Our bereavement team provide one-on-one telephone or face-to-face support, either in the home or at Hospice House. Our Kowhai Family Group meets monthly and provides the opportunity to spend time with others who have also lost their loved one. And our special biography service is a way in which many of our patients and their families record and preserve lasting memories.
The Christmas tree baubles help us to continue the important work we do in our local communities. The baubles are $10 each and are available now from Farmers Taupō. And thanks to Farmers, all the bauble sale proceeds from their Taupō store go to Lake Taupo Hospice.
Alongside the display of these specially designed baubles, we also have our Tree of Remembrance. For a small donation, you can take the opportunity to remember someone special in the lead up to Christmas by writing a personal message on a remembrance card that will hang on the tree.
The Tree of Remembrance will be in the Farmers store from the 15th November to the 24th of December, and there will be community trees at our Taupō and Turangi Hospice Shops from the 2nd of December.
