Getting a Buzz out of Bookkeeping

Bookkeeping can sound old fashioned, but this is far from the truth. In fact, there are a lot of great reasons why businesses should get a buzz out of bookkeeping.
‘The cloud’, has given businesses access to simple and affordable technology enabling easy, efficient and effective payroll and record keeping. You can do your bookwork anywhere, in the comfort of your own home or even on a beach.
However, bookwork can be time consuming and stressful. Payroll, staffing issues, paper work, invoicing and chasing customer accounts. It’s the last thing you want to do at the end of the day. It’s just as important to get information into your financial systems fast and with no errors. Imagine your staff completing timesheets and adding costs to jobs via their cell phones as they do the work.
So ask yourself:
- Do I want to make my life easier?
- Do I want less stress and more success?
- Am I keeping up with my competitors?
- Do I want more family time?
- I really hate doing this?
Most people can say YES to at least one of the above. So what can you do?
Implement new systems.
If you have existing capable staff, get advice on what systems would best suit your business. Different solutions fit different businesses but start looking at Xero, MYOB, Receipt Bank, Debtor Daddy, Builder Trend, Tradify, Simpro, IPayroll, Enable HR etc. There are now over 500 cloud based solutions. Sounds amazing, but it’s also caused confusion on which one is best to use.
Upskill yourself.
If you have systems you are not fully utilising or haven’t had the right training to use them, upskill yourself. Talk to a professional or your system provider to find out how you can learn more about your current system. You may also have the option to ‘add-on’ to what you currently have.
Consider Outsourcing.
Work out the real cost of yourself or a staff member doing the payroll and bookkeeping. Get a price from an expert, who can take away the stress, and not to mention save you time and money. They are also qualified in Employment Legislation, GST and Tax.
