For 30 years, Ross Gordon Optometrists have embraced new knowledge and technology providing the Taupo community with the most up to date eye care available in Optometry.
Retinal Photography, Corneal Topography, Visual Field analysis, Therapeutic Optometry, Behavioural assessment and many other examination techniques have made Ross Gordon Optometrists one of the leading Optometry practices in New Zealand.
This approach still exists and in 2017 Ross continues to provide technology and services which are unique to this Practice. Taupo Vision Care was one of the first Optometry Practices in New Zealand to introduce OCT scanning. The scope of these scanners to detect and monitor eye disease has been so significant that this machine has now been updated to the latest Generation of OCT scanners.
OCT scanning has revolutionised Optometry. Information from OCT scanning for macular degeneration and glaucoma is complex and requires experienced interpretation. One of several services available only at Taupo Vision Care, OCT scanning is essential in diagnosing and treating Macular degeneration and is rapidly becoming the Gold Standard in treating and monitoring Glaucoma. The retina has 10 layers of cells and these scanners are able to examine all 10 layers, measuring to within 3 microns, monitoring for change due to aging and disease. Ross and Catherine will discuss results with you in order that you have a clear understanding of your eye health and what if any action is required to be undertaken.
In 2016 we were delighted to welcome Catherine Gavin to the Practice. Catherine graduated B.Optom (Hons) in 2009 from Auckland University. She brings with her an exuberance and passion for Optometry and is enjoying being part of a Practice that has available up to date technology which provides support for diagnosis and treatment of eye disease.
Your eyes are important to us
A consultation with Ross or Catherine will take at least 45 minutes. Whilst we carry a wide range of fashion frames, many ranges exclusive to us, and can access a vast array of lenses suitable for your needs, your eye health is very important to us. We dispense spectacles and contact lenses, but only if you really need them.
