Big Days and Big Nights… on Snow!
It’s bound to be another epic season at New Zealand’s two largest ski areas, Whakapapa and Tūroa on Mt Ruapehu. Happy Valley at Whakapapa is scheduled to be the first open in New Zealand on June 2, thanks to its state-of-the-art, all-weather snow making machine: The Snow Factory.
After huge developments in Happy Valley last season which included new covered carpet lifts, see-through elevators and a revamped café, it’s now easier than ever to learn to ski at Whakapapa! Get learning and turning early in June to prepare yourself for a long, fun winter on the slopes.
Make this your season!
Whakapapa is now better than ever for advanced skiers and riders! The locally renowned Far West T-Bar has been upgraded which means more laps out west this winter… west is best! Mt Ruapehu snow shuttles will continue to run from Taupō and Turangi to Whakapapa daily (subject to demand) including an extra Friday service for night skiing. Don’t miss out on night skiing up Whakapapa this season and lock in a visit to the popular Schuss Haus Corona Bar for some après ski!
There’s plenty on offer for the kids this season too. From school holiday programmes and ‘Kids Academy’ weekends to the new Whakapapa Race Team and Tūroa Freestyle/Freeride Team. Get the kids stoked this winter while they progress their skills on snow quickly.
Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding or sightseeing this season, Whakapapa and Tūroa welcome you into the Dual World Heritage area for a snow experience like no other.
