Connecting Young Professionals in Taupō

With a broad membership base and a varied events calendar, Taupō Young Professionals gives you opportunities to network outside of your normal circles in a fun, social setting.
Established in 2013 by a group of motivated young individuals, Taupō Young Professionals was created to make it easy for young people to broaden their local networks beyond their work and study peers. The group aims to retain young professionals in Taupō by enabling these networks and friendships to be formed.
“Often, qualified professionals move to Taupō not knowing anyone, and they find it hard to meet other like-minded people outside of their work. We want to help build social networks in Taupō so newcomers are more likely to enjoy working here, and stay.”

Social events
The group’s flagship event is a monthly networking evening held at The Deck bar on Tongariro Street on the first Thursday of every month, from 7.30pm. Come along and enjoy an evening socialising with other professionals. The venue changes each season, so check out the Facebook page for updates on the next meeting. The group also has a series of social events running throughout the year including the annual Flat Crawl, quiz nights, hiking weekends, mountain biking trips, movie screenings and other events organised by the members. These events are a great way for new locals to make friends in Taupō and see the activities our region has to offer. You can even arrange your own via the Facebook group.
Committee
The TYP Committee is made up of a dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about supporting young people in Taupō, keep the group running and make the events happen. The current committee includes Daniel Baxter, Sophie Woodburn, Hannah Breckon and Robert Steven.
Interested in joining?
Moving to a new town, trying to get yourself out there and meeting new people can be daunting, so the networking evenings can be a great way to meet like-minded people and have a relaxing evening.
