Is Your Tiling Looking Dull And Tired?
Maybe it’s time for some grout cleaning: a simple and effective way to get your tiles looking brand new again.
Cleaning and maintaining tiling grout is essential for ensuring beauty and hygiene, and dirty grout can give your spaces a dingy, uninviting appearance. Here are some tips for cleaning grout – the right way.
Grab a Grout Brush
Grout needn’t always be a pain to clean. Simply spray dirty grout lines with warm water and scrub with a grout brush, then let air dry. If you don’t have a brush, use an old toothbrush, or scrub sponge.
Stubborn Stains?
All-purpose cleaners – especially those containing bleach or ammonia – will damage tile grout. Instead, mix up a solution of warm water and white distilled vinegar and apply to the grout with a sponge or rag. Let stand for five minutes, then scrub with a stiff brush.
Make It Shine
To get rid of mould and mildew, cut a sponge into 1-inch cubes, then dip into baking soda. Cover the grout with the baking soda/ sponge mixture and spray on water or vinegar. Let it sit for one hour, then scrub with your hands or brush.
Steam-powered
Steam cleaners are an effective, environmentally friendly way to clean grout. Powerful enough to remove grease and grime, they won’t damage delicate surfaces or leave streaky residue. They’re also safe for use with vinegar, lemon juice, and baking soda. Steam cleaners can also sanitize hard surfaces throughout the house.
